Professor shares expert analysis into Carrier decision

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Questions are still unanswered as to why Carrier changed their minds on moving around 1,000 jobs to Mexico. IU Kelly School of Business professor Mahan Tatikonda stopped by Daybreak to share insights into the decision.

Tatikonda said part of the move could be tied to incentives.

According to some number crunching by I-Team 8, United Technologies or its subsidiaries have secured more than $16.5 billion in defense contracts since 9/11. However, Carrier did pay back tax incentives after it decide to move jobs to Mexico. It’s still not clear what will happen with that money.

Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence will speak at Carrier on the far west side of Indianapolis at 2 p.m. The event is not open to the public. You can watch it live on WISH-TV and WISHTV.com.
