Dolly Parton organizes Nashville telethon for Tenn. fire victims

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Dolly Parton is organizing a telethon to help the victims of the deadly wildfires in East Tennessee.

According to one of the singer’s representatives, the event is scheduled to take place in Nashville on Dec.13.

They also say 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit fire victims.

No other details have been released about the telethon.

Earlier this week, Parton announced that the Dollywood Company and Dollywood Foundation were setting up the “My People Fund.”

It will give $1,000 a month to Sevier County families who lost their homes.

Parton made the announcement Wednesday through the foundation’s website with a video message.

“We want to provide a hand up to those families who have lost everything in the fires,” she said. “I know it has been a trying time for my people and this assistance will help get them back on their feet.”
