Marion shooting leaves one man in critical

GRANT COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — The Marion Police Department is looking into a shooting that left one man in critical condition early Saturday morning.

Authorities said that a man was shot at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of South Mason Boulevard just after 7:00 a.m. He was transported to Marion General Hospital before being airlifted to Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne to treat his wounds.

The resident of the apartment where the altercation occurred, 36-year-old Cory E. Rice, arrived at the police department to speak with detectives concerning the incident.

It is believed that Rice shot at the man after the victim had shattered one of Rice’s windows with a brick following an altercation.

The investigation is ongoing.
