3 arrested after officer struck by vehicle

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH)- Three people are now in custody after a Nov. theft in progress run in which a Fishers police officer was intentionally struck with a vehicle.

According to the Fishers Police Department, officers initially responded to a call of a theft in progress on Nov. 23 at Fry’s Electronics located in the 9800 block of Kincaid Boulevard.

After arriving on scene, an officer noticed the three suspects attempting to flee the area in a Toyota car. Police then stopped the vehicle and at that time one of the suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to run from the scene. An officer started to give chase to the suspect, but the driver of the Toyota then drove over the curb, onto the lawn and struck the officer. The Toyota then immediately fled the scene.

The officer, who was knocked to the ground, was not injured and did get back to his feet and continued to chase the suspect on foot. That suspect, 46-year-old Allan Carter was captured and taken into custody at that time.

Fishers police, with help from the Lawrence Police Department, located the Toyota involved in the incident parked in front of an Indianapolis residence on Dec. 2. The driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Jordan Petty, and the third suspect, 21-year-old Michael McClendon, were both taken into custody.

All three suspects were transported to the Hamilton County Jail where they face a number of preliminary charges including resisting law enforcement, battery with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of an accident.
