Grandmother speaks after gunman leaves her for dead

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Helen Lane is still nursing several gunshot wounds, from an undisclosed location. On November 27, an intruder stormed her home near 30th Street and Eastern Avenue. Once inside, the suspect demanded money from her son Derrean “Bubba” Alfonzo, 60.

“He said oh man,” said Lane. “Then all of sudden pow, pow, pow.”

The intruder shot and killed Alfonzo. He then moved through the house and turned his attention toward Lane.

“He said give me your money,” said Lane. “He said where is your pocket book, give me your money, give me your money. I said I don’t have any money.”

The suspect then grabbed Lane by the hair, and tossed her to the ground. Before leaving the house the intruder shot Lane several times. She played dead and the suspect left the home.

After the suspect left, Lane gathered her strength and called 911. As of now, police have not released the identity of a possible suspect, despite that, Lane is giving police every detail she has from that night.

“He will get his pay, he will get his pay one day, to take an innocent person’s life and then try to take mine,” said Lane.
