2 seriously injured in crash north of Columbus

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries following a crash north of Columbus Sunday afternoon, including a Columbus North High School student.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s partners at The Republic, 15-year-old Elijah Kuhfahl was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash and suffered a broken collarbone and internal injuries. A spokeswoman at IU Health Methodist Hospital said Monday that Kuhfahl was in critical condition.

The crash happened at the intersection of North Marr Road and County Road 600 North just after 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

50-year-old Tim Dillingham was a passenger in the other vehicle. He was listed in stable condition at Methodist after undergoing surgery. His son-in-law said Dillingham’s injuries are not life-threatening.

The 17-year-old driver of one of the involved vehicles said his vision was hampered by rain and a foggy windshield when he ran a stop sign and struck a van in the intersection.

Indiana State Police is investigating the accident.
