Woman wanted for passing dozens of fake checks at local stores

WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — Westfield police are asking for the public’s help to identify a woman wanted for using dozens of counterfeit checks at local grocery stores.

The Westfield Police Department was notified Oct. 18 that a woman had passed several fake checks.

After investigating, police say a woman using the alias Tawanna Carter is linked to dozens of forgery incidents around the Indianapolis area.

Anyone with information about the woman is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477). Your anonymous tip could be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
