Artists write original Christmas song to benefit fire victims in Gatlinburg

SALEM (WSLS 10) – Helping fire victims in Gatlinburg, several local artists are using their craft to raise money for the Dollywood Foundation’s My People Fund.

The fund will provide $1,000 a month to families that lost their homes in the Sevier.

County fires. More than 700 families have already applied for help.

An original Christmas song called “Music in the Mountains” is now dedicated to fire victims.

The song was composed by a local piano teacher, Sarah O’Brien, of Salem, and her brother, Andy Reaser, who currently works in Los Angeles as a producer on the hit television series “Grey’s Anatomy.”

The two collaborated with local award-winning children’s book author Cece Bell, also of Salem, who created the illustrations along with a coloring sheet to go along with the music.

That digital bundle can now be purchased online.

The bundle includes all original art, sheet music for beginner piano players and additional original artwork from O’Brien’s piano students.

“Our personal goal is to raise $1,000 because that is the sum that Dolly had set to give to the families who lost everything. If we can do that and can contribute to that effort that would be fantastic,” O’Brian said.

The entire digital package costs $5.  Additional copies for multiple students can be purchased for $10.Click here to purchase the bundle.
