Carmel police locate 17-year-old missing runaway

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) – A 17-year-old runaway who went missing on Dec. 1 has been located.

According to the Carmel Police Department, Madison Dammeyer was found in Spruce Pine, North Carolina Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. Officers verified her information and she was removed from the Indiana Missing Children’s Clearinghouse database.

Dammeyer was reported missing from Carmel after it was learned she and her 18-year-old boyfriend, Benjamin Sanders, purchased two Greyhound bus tickets to North Carolina.

Police said records show the bus arrived in Asheville, North Carolina on Dec. 1 at 8:30 a.m.

Dammeyer called home on Dec. 3 at approximately 4 p.m. from a business in Elizabethtown, Tennessee.

Since she was found, police say no further assistance is needed.
