Family remembers Anderson woman shot and killed in domestic incident

ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) — Family and friends are remembering the life of an Anderson woman, who police said was shot and killed in a domestic incident.

It happened last week on West 1st Street in Anderson.

Family of Lindsey Wilkins told 24-Hour News 8 she was a single mom working to support her 8-year-old daughter.

She was also engaged, but now her fiancé is charged with her murder.

“Lindsey was a big part of everybody’s life and she impacted our lives and we really saw that these past couple of days at the showing of the funeral how many people loved and cared about her,” said Hailey Wilkins, the victim’s sister.

Wilkins and her family are going through pictures and sharing memories of her older sister Lindsey.

“Nothing but good things to say about her,” she said. “How funny and vibrant she was and always brought the life in everybody.”

The 33-year-old was found dead in her home last week.Police arrested 23-year-old Aaron Toller. Family said he was her fiancé.

“How could someone do that to someone that you’re supposed to love and care about,” said Wilkins. “You’re supposed to be engaged to.”

Wilkins said her sister was in a relationship with Toller. They had been together for a little over a year and engaged in September.

According to court documents, Toller told police he came home and found Wilkins dead in the bedroom. He believed she committed suicide. Toller told police he got rid of the gun because he was on probation and was not supposed to be around guns.

Police recovered the weapon in a nearby field. Documents also show the victim’s daughter was home at the time and slept through the whole thing.

“I’m very thankful that she didn’t get hurt or wake up,” said Jennifer Wilkins, victim’s mother.

The family said their main focus now is on the young girl and helping her through this tragedy.

“No child should have to grow without their parents without their mom,” said Wilkins.

Family said they started a GoFundMe page and has raised $3,500 as of Thursday night to help support the young girl.

Meanwhile, Toller remains in the Madison County Jail. A court date has not been set.
