IMPD searching for suspect in attempted robbery, shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect in an attempted robbery and shooting.

According to IMPD, the attempted robbery and shooting occurred at a Speedway gas station in the 7200 block of West 10th Street just after 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 23.

Police said the suspect, a black male, known to be a regular customer, initially entered the gas station just after 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 23, walked up to the counter, lit his cigarette and then left.

The suspect returned approximately an hour later, pulled out a silver revolver and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk then began to run to the back of the room, the suspect then shot the clerk in the back.

The victim ran outside as the suspect chased the victim towards a McDonald’s next door.

The suspect, who is described as between 5’9″-5’11” tall and weighing between 220-240 lbs., then got into a black Chevy Trailerblazer and fled the area northbound on Girls School Road.
