Lawrence police officers, firefighters lend a helping hand

LAWRENCE,Ind. (WISH) – Firefighters and police officers in Lawrence teamed up to help families in need this holiday season.

They met up at the Lawrence Fire Station 38 Friday evening.

The group packed hundreds of boxes of food, clothes and toys for children.

The event was part of the fire department’s family assistance program.

They firefighters and police officers weren’t the only ones lending a helping hand Friday evening. A number of volunteers stopped by to help pack boxes for families in need.

The packages will be handed out to 175 families Saturday.
