Muncie school closes for second day in a row for heating issue

MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) – East Washington Academy was closed again on Friday due to heat problems in the building.

The elementary school temperature was not at the required 68 degrees Thursday and Friday morning, causing the school the close for both days.

According to a release, three of nine heating units in the building were down last week.

Two of the three were fixed, and one will have to be replaced.

Space heaters were used in the building and students were told to wear sweatshirts and long sleeves.

Officials have called a school board meeting to address the issue. They will meet on Monday, Dec. 19.
