One arrest made following Greenwood robbery, fatal shooting

GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) — The Greenwood Police Department has announced one arrest following an auto theft and shooting in Greenwood that killed one person.

24-year-old Tania Chaves has been arrested for auto theft.

Greenwood detectives are still piecing together what led up to the shooting which left multiple schools in the area on lockdown.

GPD four people were dropped off at 509 N. Meridian St. in Greenwood for “a confrontation with residents there.” The individuals that were dropped off were 21-year-old Karin Castro, 28-year-old Roberto Wangeman, a 17-year-old male and Chaves, all of Indianapolis.

The four confronted 20-year-old Felipe Zaragoza and his 24-year-old brother Jose Zaragoza at their residence on Meridian Street. Police said shots were fired by multiple individuals.

Castro died after being shot multiple times. The 17-year-old was shot in the chest. Felipe Zaragoza was shot in the leg.
