Winter Weather Advisory issued for most of central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for most of central Indiana.

The advisory goes into effect 10 p.m. Friday evening and lasts until 7 a.m. Saturday morning.

Included in the advisory are the following counties: Bartholomew, Boone, Brown, Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Decatur, Delaware, Hamilton,Hancock, Howard, Hendricks, Henry, Jennings, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Monroe, Morgan, Montgomery, Owen, Parke,Putnam, Randolph, Rush, Shelby, Tipton, Tippecanoe, Vermillion, Vigo and Warren.

Just before 10 p.m., Howard County officials reported icy roads and even a few accidents due to the weather.

As the winter weather arrives in the area, Indiana State Police and IMPD Dispatch are reporting the interstates are becoming slick causing accidents.

Additionally, Hamilton County has issued a yellow travel advisory for unincorporated roads.  According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, it is the lowest level of a local travel advisory, meaning that routine travel or activities could be restricted in areas due to hazardous situations.
