IMPD responds to more than 250 weather-related accidents

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to more than 250 weather-related accidents late Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Of those accidents reported between 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday, 40 were personal injury accidents. IMPD said none of the accidents they responded to in those 12 hours involved fatalities.

Due to the expected return of freezing temperatures and the possibility of more freezing rain Saturday evening, IMPD is asking motorists to stay off the roads Saturday evening into Sunday morning.

ISP is also urging motorists to stay off the roads if possible.

However, police say that if you must drive, exercise caution.
