More weather concerns to come

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Dangerous travel conditions thanks to overnight freezing rain is still creating major problems on area roads Saturday morning.  The good news is that temperatures should start to warm up as we roll through the morning, changing any freezing rain to all rain, and allowing for some melting on the ice covered roads.   Expect on and off showers through much of the morning, with a bit off a lull in the precipitation through the afternoon.  Some freezing rain and sleet may hang around our far northern counties.    Highs should reach into the upper 30s and lower 40s later today.

Another batch of precipitation will roll in tonight, meeting up with very cold air, we will likely see another round of sleet and/or freezing rain through the early to mid evening hours.  Freezing rain amounts won’t be large, but will certainly be enough to create some big problems on roads again.  Be aware of quickly changing road conditions if you have to be out traveling tonight.

A winter weather advisory will go into effect this evening for much of central Indiana due to the ice concern.

Freezing rain and sleet should start to taper off overnight, changing to a few brief snow showers leading into daybreak Sunday morning.   Much colder temperatures will greet you in the morning, with lows in the teens and wind chills in the single digits.
