Suspect with two warrants taken into custody

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A suspect that had two separate warrants was taken into custody by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

According to IMPD, 33-year-old Timothy Crawford was arrested in the 2800 block of West 39th Street on Friday, Dec. 16.

Police said Crawford, who had two felony warrants, was able to evade officers because he used an address that was not his on official court documents and filings. However, officers were able to track down his correct address through surveillance and an investigation, which included reviewing his Facebook posts which commonly showed guns, drugs and cash.

Officers then noticed Crawford engage in at least two hand-to-hand transactions, which are often related to the selling of narcotics. After hours of surveillance, officers apprehended the suspect, but not before he attempted to flee into an apartment that was not his. At the time of his arrest, Crawford was found to be in possession of a firearm and nearly $1,000 in cash, both of which were confiscated.

In addition to his two previous warrants for possession and dealing of meth and cocaine, battery, and intimidation, Crawford now faces a preliminary charge of possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon and residential entry.

Police said they believe Crawford to have been the target of a number of narcotics complaints around the northwest side.
