Bartholomew County Sheriff K-9 Diesel receives badge

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office welcomed its newest K-9, Diesel, to the force Monday.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew Myers and members of the Sheriff’s Leadership Team, as well as Dispatcher Dylan Prather and Operations Manager April Gray, of Real World Testing, attended the Monday morning badge ceremony at the Bartholomew County Commissioner’s meeting to recognize Diesel and his partner, Deputy Matt Bush.

While a student at Columbus North High School, Prather planned and organized a fundraising project for the purchase of a new police dog for the Columbus Police Department. Last fall, Prather, a part-time college student and part-time Bartholomew County Dispatcher, heard the sheriff’s office needed a second K-9 Unit and went to work fundraising again.

Prather’s fundraising paid off when he received a check in the amount of $18,000 from Real World Testing, allowing the sheriff’s office to purchase a second K-9.

“This simply re-emphasizes what a great community we have. I want to personally thank Dylan, Real World Testing and all who donated to our K-9 project,” said Sheriff Myers.
