5-year-old shot on east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 5-year-old girl was shot Saturday afternoon on the far east side.

The condition of the child is not yet known.

Authorities said it happened just after 2:00 p.m. in the 4000 block of Newburgh Drive.

Police said the shooting appears to be accidental. The child was taken to Riley Hospital at IU Health.

Not much else is known at this time.

WISH-TV has a crew currently headed to the scene.
