Healthy snacks and drinks with Firefighter Tim

Tag team in the kitchen with Carmel Fire Department’s Tim Griffin & Annessa Chumbley, Registered Dietitian!

Let’s get your New Year started off right, whether you’re trying to help combat inflammation from and injury like Tim is, or if you’re just wanting some great energy-packed, delicious options to help keep your New Year’s resolutions.

Tim shares two recipes that both have great anti-inflammatory benefits, since he has been out after a recent shoulder surgery.

Pineapple tart cherry ginger Anti-inflammatory Smoothie 

3/4 cup pineapple

1/4 cup mango

1/4 cup strawberry

1/4 cup carrot

1/2 banana

Small chunk ginger

1 Tablespoon daily turmeric

2 tablespoons tart cherry extract

1/2 cup almond milk and or vanilla protein

Blend All ingredients and get your morning started!

Pineapple ginger salad dressing on a spinach salad 

1/2 cup pineapple juice (no added sugar)

1 small chunk ginger

2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

2 tablespoon honey mustard

1 tablespoon grape seed oil

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon stevia

1 teaspoon pepper

Couple chunks of pineapple

Place all contents in to a magic bullet or blender and blend ingredients. Next pour dressing over large bowl of fresh spinach and sprinkle it with dried cranberries, crushed  walnuts, and 1/2 cup pineapple chunks.  Mix and enjoy!
