INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 17-year-old girl has been taken into custody for the fatal stabbing of a woman Monday.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Tuesday morning the teen likely killed 23-year-old Mireya Arciga out of jealousy.
The stabbing happened near the 2600 block of East Riverside Drive around 3:30 a.m. Police say the girl, who has not been identified, turned herself in around 11 p.m. Monday.
A witness told 24-Hour News 8 the girl and woman began fighting shortly after leaving a nightclub.
The man said the fight moved to a park just west of Riverside Drive. He said he noticed blood coming from the victim’s neck and he tried to save her. He called 911 and put his hand over the victim’s wound to try and stop the bleeding. That’s when he said he saw a car drive away.
