ISP: Two killed in I-65 crash near Seymour

SEYMOUR, Ind. (WISH) — Two people are dead following a crash on Interstate 65 in Jackson County on Tuesday morning.

Indiana State Police first tweeted about a crash just after 7 a.m. ISP said the crash happened in the southbound lanes near the 47 mile marker, which is near the Seymour exit. Police said it involved two tractor trailers. That crash sent one man to Schneck Medical Center to treat his injuries.

Just before 7:45 a.m., ISP tweeted about a second crash that had the entire roadway shut down. It involved a 2003 GMC that struck the back of a 2006 Volvo pulling a box trailer. Two occupants of the GMC, 62-year-old Thomas Harding and 59-year-old Joyce Harding of Indianapolis, died from their injuries.

A backseat passenger was also injured in the crash. He was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital to treat serious injuries.

Southbound lanes of I-65 were closed for four hours as a result of the crashes.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.Join the discussion on Facebook:
