Floral designers and artist work together for Art in Bloom

Enjoy a celebration of fine art and fresh flowers with Carmel Arts Council’s Art in Bloom! It’s here where you’ll find art-inspired florals created by local artists, gardeners and floral designers, along with so much more!

On Thursday, April 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Ritz Charles, participants will get to see a floral expert from Oberer’s Flowers doing a live floral presentation during lunch, while also watching a local artist do a live floral sketch or painting. Also on tap for the event:

* An exciting silent auction featuring themed baskets with items for all.

* A 5-foot “bling tree” with light-up bling rings available for purchase to be entered in a drawing for beautiful jewelry pieces.

* Free wine tasting, compliments of PRP Wines International.

* Cash bar with signature spring drinks featured.

Jayme McComas is a nine year member of the Carmel Arts Council and is currently serving as vice president on the executive board. She was given the challenge to develop a new spring fundraiser for 2017. After hearing about an Art in Bloom event in St. Petersburg, Florida, Jayme decided to plan a similar event for the CAC in Carmel.

Art in Bloom will be a beautiful spring event held at the Ritz Charles. Artists and Florists will be paired to create stunning floral creations with the artwork serving as an inspriration for their designs.

Jayme graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri with a BFA in Interior Design. She is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Indianapolis and has served on many committees for the Carmel Arts Council as well as chairing the arrangements for the Buckaroo Bash held at the Eiteljorg Museum where Jayme and her husband, Rod are Eagle Society members.

Artist – Deb Slack

Deb Slack, wife and mother of three, is a graduate of Indiana University and a former social worker. In 2009, while raising her young children, she took her first art class and quickly discovered a love of painting. While Deb still considers herself a student, she is now working as a full time artist and has a studio in downtown Carmel in the Arts District. She also exhibits in Artsplash Gallery in Carmel. Her subject matter includes angels, abstract florals and still life, landscapes and city scenes, or “anywhere I see the beauty of God’s creation”. She paints with a sense of gratitude, faith and joy.Floral Artist – Bri Hewitt – Oberer’s

Bri graduated from Herron School of Art and Design with a Bachelors in Fine Arts. She accepted a full time position with Oberer’s Flowers beginning with the opening of the company’s expansion in Indiana. Starting with no floral experience, but with a love of all things art and color, and as a touch of a perfectionist, Bri was a natural. With the rapid growth of Oberer’s in the Indianapolis and surrounding areas over the last six years, Bri accepted the responsibilities of Oberer’s full time Wedding and Event Coordinator. For five years and counting, she has been one of the driving forces behind Oberer’s success.
