Using art to preserve Indy’s waterways

Straws. Plastic bottles and more. Today on Indy Style, we get a lesson in preserving Indy’s waterways with Corrie Meyer, Director of Reconnecting to Our Waterways (ROW), and Mark Kesling, Founder & CEO, The daVinci Pursuit, and Co-Chair of ROW’s steering committee.About ROW:

ROW provides grants to community organizations, artists and neighborhood residents to make improvements throughout the year.

  • Their steering committee just approved $50K in in grants to be awarded through their other committees for organizations/projects that will reinvest into the waterways. Specifics will be announced at ROWport
  • When: Friday, April 21, 4-6pm
  • What: From 4pm-5pm discover what has and who have been making projects and programs happen around the city, then from 5pm- 6pm experience the White River with informative nature hikes and water raft rides.
  • Where: Former Naval Armory (3010 N. White River Pkwy)
  • Who: Free and open to the public
  • “Flow” is being installed at Barth bridge. (Created by Will Marquette, who is an architect, who partnered with IUPUI.) The installation plays original music that was written about the waterways as people walk by.
  • ROW brings a giant water bottle that was built out of over 1,000 smaller water bottles to various events. The idea is to show the accumulative impact of each individual’s actions
