PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind.(AP/WISH) — Authorities say the body of a 2-year-old boy who had been reported missing was found in a central Indiana lake.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says in a statement that the child’s mother called 911 on Monday evening to report the Putnam County boy missing and he was found unresponsive shortly afterward in Van Bibber Lake.
The department says the child’s body was found in the water, a few feet from the shore, just after 6 p.m. CPR was immediately administered by family until responding emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and relieved them.
The boy was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 7 p.m.
Additional information wasn’t immediately released and the investigation was ongoing. An autopsy is planned for 8 a.m. Wednesday morning at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
