INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police said a female body was found Thursday afternoon in a creek on the city’s south side.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received a “dead on arrival” call shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday from the 1800 block of Cruft Street. A woman had called police after seeing what she said was a woman’s body in the creek.

Some folks arrived at the scene around 4 p.m. and believed the woman found in the creek is their relative, a 40-year-old who has been missing since last week.

IMPD said it is still looking into whether this is a homicide and did not have any information yet on the identity.
