1 dies in traffic accident at 52nd, Lafayette Road

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A person died Tuesday night in a traffic accident on the northwest side, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.

Police and an ambulance were dispatched to the intersection of West 52nd Street and Lafayette Road at 7:20 p.m.

According to IMPD, upon arrival at the scene officers discovered a 35-year-old victim who was unresponsive and suffering from significant injuries. The male victim was transported to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital where he was later died.

He has since been identified as Sultan Ariff. The Marion County Coroner’s Office said he died from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries.

Witnesses told police a red 2002 Dodge Neon and a motorcycle crashed in the intersection and that the Neon fled the scene.

Police are currently searching for a red 2002 Dodge Neon with Indiana license plate number XVQ562. It was last seen traveling eastbound on West 52nd Street from Lafayette Road and it is believed to have damage to its passenger side due to the fatal accident.
