SWAT situation ends with no suspect in custody

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Officers from IMPD SWAT responded to a situation on the city’s southeast side.

IMPD confirmed around 4:22 p.m. that Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department had a perimeter in place near the intersection of East Thompson Road and Emerson Avenue at the Emerson Village Apartment.

A person called police saying he saw a man wanted on active arrest warrants — for attempted murder and attempted kidnapping — so police responded to the area.

Officers knocked on apartment doors, and when they did not get response, they called in SWAT.

Responders combed through apartments until 6 p.m., when SWAT and other IMPD officers began leaving the scene, without the suspect in custody.

Authorities are not releasing the suspect’s name at this time because, they say, they’re working on active leads.

IMPD has the car they believe was used to bring the suspect to the apartment complex.

Police say the man they’re seeking usually carries a gun.
