IMPD’s new effort reaches out to kids in crises

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department representatives on Friday kicked off a pilot program, Books to the Rescue.

The program looks to supply 200 police cars with bags containing $250 worth of children’s books and stuffed animals for kids of all ages.

The items will be used to distract kids involved in an accident or crisis.

They will also help officers continue to build relationships within the community.
