Strong storms possible this weekend

Much warmer temperatures with numerous rain chances, including the threat for severe weather before we close down the weekend.Today:

Starting off quiet, with increasing clouds across the area.  Upper level wave should help to aid scattered showers to roll into portions of central Indiana – basically northwest of a Terre Haute to Indy to Muncie line, later this afternoon.  Severe weather is not expected this afternoon, and rain should be relatively light.

Highs top out in the lower 60s.Tonight:

Showers should become a little more numerous and widespread.  A few rumbles of thunder will be possible as well, but should stay well below severe limits for the overnight hours.

Temperatures will hold steady, if not rise a few degrees as we approach daybreak.Sunday:

All eyes are on Sunday, as the threat for severe storms ramps up.  Time table looks to be in the afternoon and evening hours for central Indiana.  The Storm Prediction Center has put much of central Indiana in an enhanced risk for severe storms, Sunday.  All modes of severe weather are in play, but hail and damaging winds will be the primary threats.  A few tornadoes can’t be ruled out.Timing:

We’ll likely have some light showers, and a lot of cloud cover across the area to start off the day.  Big question will be how much the cloud cover erodes during the late morning/early afternoon.  Amount of sunshine will help set the stage for severe weather threat in the afternoon.  If clouds hang tough, it could limit, our severe threat, but regardless, strong storms will still be in play.

Afternoon hours look best for isolated cells to develop out ahead of a strong line that arrives later in the evening.  A few of these storms could produce large hail, and possibly a tornado.

The second threat comes with the line of storms that rolls into central Indiana by mid evening.  This will have more of a damaging wind/heavy rain threat as it sweeps across the state.  Severe weather threat should be wrapping up by, or shortly after Midnight.

Highs on Sunday will top out in the lower 70s.

Monday:

Much cooler air moves in behind the front.  Highs top out in the middle 50s8 Day Forecast:
