Man sentenced to 30 years in prison for shooting estranged wife

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man has been sentenced to three decades behind bars in connection to the 2016 shooting of his estranged wife.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry announced Wednesday that Robert Evans has been convicted and sentenced to 30 years in prison for the shooting.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Senrita Evans was shot by Evans at a bankruptcy law office in the 7300 block of North Keystone Avenue on July 11, 2016.

It is believed that the two were in the lobby together before they began to argue.That’s when Evans went to his vehicle to retrieve a gun. He re-entered the business and shot his wife multiple times. His wife then fled to the parking lot, where Evans continued to fire shots toward her.

Evans was later apprehended by SWAT officials.

He pled guilty to attempted murder in October and remains in custody at the Marion County Jail.Note: This story has been updated to correct the last name of the man sentenced.
