Fishers Freedom Festival ends run after 29 years

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — The Fishers Freedom Festival is no more.

The nonprofit organization said in a “Letter to the Public” late Wednesday night that the 2017 festival was the last.

Fishers Freedom Festival’s letter said the city of Fishers pulled its money and staff support. The organization said Fishers used to provide $85,000 and the support of city workers.

The organization says the money help dropped to $45,000 in 2017. For 2018, the organization said Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness and the City Council announced it will no longer support the festival, saying the festival partnership does not fall within the city’s vision.

Fishers Freedom Festival said it would cost around $125,000 to pay for and staff the festival.

The festival had a 29-year run. It occurred the last weekend of June before Independence Day.
