Honoring Veterans Day at Indiana War Memorial

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — There were a number of events honoring veterans in Indianapolis on Saturday.

In the morning, the Indiana National Guard played patriotic music.

Later in the day, Gov. Eric Holcomb and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett placed a wreath at the Indiana War Memorial.

All the activities were scheduled in thanks and remembrance of those who served to protect the United States.

The bell of the USS Indianapolis tolled after the closing prayer, in tribute of the fallen veterans in all wars involving U.S. troops.

Immediately after the memorial service was the Veterans Day parade, with more than 80 groups marching downtown.

People lined the streets to wave and watch, and Gov. Holcomb served as grand marshal.
