Pike Township student among those honored at Power of Children awards

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — It was a big night for a group of students from across the nation Friday night.

They were honored here in Indianapolis.

The students received the Power of Children Awards on Friday night.

The awards reception, held at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, recognized students in sixth through 12th grade.

One student honored during the ceremony was a Pike High School school junior Chloe Winston, whose project focused on the importance of voting.

“I was glad that I was able to help others. I was glad that my project was able to inform other people and help other people in my community, and not just my community but in the world,” Winston said.

The awards were presented for students shown to be improving the lives of others through selfless commitment to service.

Each award recipient received a $2,000 grant from the Kroger Foundation and a partial scholarship to IUPUI, University of Indianapolis or Butler University.
