2 men charged in Beech Grove burglaries

BEECH GROVE, Ind. (WISH) – Two men have been arrested in connection with burglaries in the Marion County enclave, the Beech Grove Police Department said Wednesday.

Timmy Logan, 39, and Willard Watson, 50, both of Indianapolis, were arrested within a week of the burglary of the St. Paul Hermitage and Monastery in the 1400 block of Southern Avenue, said an email from Detective Matthew Bragg with the Beech Grove police.

“Through the active investigation and tips received because of Channel 8 News coverage, Detectives with the Beech Grove Police were able to execute a search warrant; recovering items stolen in the burglary,” Bragg said.

In the 24-Hour News 8 report, police showed photos from surveillance video of two men about 6:30 a.m. Nov. 7. The video, police said, showed the men backing up a van to the garage of a 60-year-old woman, removing a light bulb and then proceeding to take items from the garage. Several items including an air compressor, a chain saw, welder and weed eater were reported stolen.

Logan was preliminarily charged Wednesday with burglary, theft and unlawful possession of a syringe, online court records show. Watson was preliminarily charged with burglary and theft. Both have initial hearings set for Thursday in Marion Superior Court, Criminal Division 2. Both men were in the Marion County Jail on Wednesday.
