Police: Man faces federal charges after theft from FBI agent’s vehicle

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 26-year-old man is in the Marion County Jail facing federal charges after admitting to police he broke into several vehicles, including one belonging to an FBI agent, police say.

Police say they received several reports of vehicle break-ins from June through October. One of the affected vehicles belonged to an FBI Safe Streets Tasks Force special agent. Laptops, a tactical vest, a digital recorder and other items were taken from the agent’s car.

An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department evidence tech got fingerprints from the vehicle, and the prints were identified as belonging to Kevin Doss

Doss had an arrest record in several states, including a 2015 arrest where he was charged with entering a security officer’s vehicle and taking his laptop and tactical vest.

IMPD interviewed Doss, and he admitted his involvement in the break-in of the agent’s vehicle and other vehicle break-ins. The digital recorder, tactical vest and a handgun were recovered.

Police said Doss is facing preliminary federal charges including theft, weapon violations and damage to federal property. He also had an active warrant from a Hamilton County court regarding a theft case, police said.
