Two sent to hospital after three car crash

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WISH) — An early morning crash involving a trash truck and two cars sent two people to the hospital.

According to police, a Republic Services dump truck was attempting to turn when it was struck from behind by 33-year-old Blaze Pollard’s vehicle, causing Pollard’s vehicle to be in the northbound lane.

The driver of the truck, 53-year-old Shawn Ransford of Carlisle, got out to help Pollard. 54-year-old F. Douglas Springer of Terre Haute did not see Pollard’s vehicle and struck it. Springer’s car also hit Ransford.

Ransford was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment of hip, chest and head injuries. Springer was also transported for treatment of lower leg and chest injuries.

Pollard did not go to the hospital but was cited for speed too fast to avoid a collision and no vehicle insurance.
