Traffic stop leads to 3 arrests, recovery of $1,500 worth of stolen merchandise

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A Wednesday evening traffic stop led to the arrest of three Indianapolis women and the recovery of stolen merchandise worth more than $1,500.

According to the Indiana State Police, a vehicle was pulled over just after 10 p.m. in the area of 34th Street and Emerson Avenue for a nonworking headlight.

While talking with the three occupants, the officer on scene detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Police say a further investigation led to the discovery of what is believed to be stolen merchandise totaling more than $1,500. A majority of the items still had security tags attached to them, but were without bags or receipts.

All three 18-year-old occupants were taken into custody.

Rayona Turner faces preliminary charges for theft, possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle never having received a driver’s license. Deasia Martin and Dameona Hill both face preliminary charges for theft.
