Man killed in Randolph Co. crash

RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – One man was killed in a Randolph County crash Thursday afternoon.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the intersection of State Road 227 and U.S. 36 just before 5 p.m. for a two-vehicle crash.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies learning that a vehicle headed south on State Road 227, driven by 59-year-old Les Loranzan, failed to stop at a stop sign at U.S. 36.

As a result a 2013 Toyota Highlander, driven by 54-year-old Timothy Siegel, headed west on U.S. 36. Deputies say Siegel was unable to avoid hitting Loranzan’s vehicle as it entered into his path.

Emergency medical personnel pronounced Loranzan dead on scene. Siegel was transported to Reid Hospital for back pain.

Both drivers were wearing safety belts are the time of the crash.

The fatal accident remains under investigation.
