Storms cause delays to holiday festivities

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Strong wind and storms on Saturday led to delays of scheduled openings for holiday festivities in central Indiana.

In Carmel, the openings of the Christkindlmarkt and The Ice at Center Green, which had been planned for Saturday, were rescheduled for Sunday from 1-9 p.m.

City officials said the tree lighting scheduled for Saturday at 5:30 p.m. was canceled, while the other festivities were to move to the fire bay at Fire Headquarters at Civic Square and go as planned from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Winterlights at Newfields, scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. outside the Indianapolis Museum of Art, has been canceled due to the threat of severe weather.

You’re advised to called the Winterlights call center at 317-955-2339 or stop by the admissions desk in the museum’s welcome center to transfer tickers to another evening.
