IPS showcases new all-choice high school model

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — On Saturday, students got the chance to learn more about education that could help them follow a career path.

Indianapolis Public Schools headed its fourth annual showcase of schools.

Representatives answered questions about a new all-choice high school model.

It will launch next school year.

IPS will offer 15 high school option programs with more than 40 academic paths to choose.

“I’m a very hands-on learner, and there’s not very many classes where you can learn hands on,” said Jonathan Garmany, who graduated from Arsenal Tech.

“Now that you have these career programs, it helps you be academic in your other classes. I knew if I failed my other classes, i couldn’t take my career program,” Garmany said.

Also new this year — a way for students and their families to apply through “One Match” — one application for a dozen different school options.
