INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The 44-year-old man struck and killed by a truck Monday night on the northwest side was identified Tuesday by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was dispatched about 6:40 p.m. to North High School Road at Westhaven Drive. That’s in a commercial area with Dollar General and Home Depot stores north of 38th Street.

Eric Ezell was trying to cross the street when he was struck and killed by a pickup truck, police said. The driver, who has not been identified, told police he did not see the man crossing the street. He was cooperating with police.

The driver was taken for a blood draw as required by state law, police said, but no results of that test had been release. However, a captain for Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on Monday night called it simply a tragic accident.
