FLORA, Ind. (WISH) — People in one community came together one year later to remember the lives of four sisters killed in a house fire in Carroll County.

The house fire happened on East Columbia Street in Flora. Investigators believe someone set the girls’ home on fire and since then no one has been arrested.

A candlelight vigil was held across the street from what used to be the family’s home on Tuesday night.

“Thank you all for coming out and showing support to my wonderful, wonderful cousins and their mother. She is here but she’s very emotional,” said a relative. “I mean if you guys can understand how emotional this is for her to be in an environment where she lost her children, all of them, and not only was she here, she was in the house and she witnessed it so it’s is extremely hard for her to be out here and try to get through this.”

One year later, it is still not known who or what started that fire that killed 11-year-old Keyana, 9-year-old Keyara, 7-year-old Kerriele, and 5-year-old Kionnie.

Investigators from several different agencies are still following up on leads. Superintendent Doug Carter with Indiana State Police said the investigation is moving forward and it won’t be over until someone is held accountable.

“I said as long as I’m breathing air, I’m going to stay here so we’ll continue to move forward to drive, drive, drive and to talk, talk, talk, but with all that said, it can’t be done without all of you,” Carter said.

Investigators are urging for anyone with information come forward. Since the tragedy, the community has stood by the family and created a fundraiser group called Flora’s 4 Angels. Money raised from selling cookbooks, t-shirts, bracelets, and stickers will go toward a reward fund.

So far the group has raised around $12,000.

24-Hour News 8 has learned the reward fund is different from the one being promoted by Indiana State Police. The reward fund is being handled by the International Association of Arson Investigators, Indiana Chapter No. 14.
