Chinese lanterns, culture to brighten State Fairgrounds

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The State Fairgrounds was lit up Wednesday night for the Indiana Chinese Lantern Festival that starts Friday.

Crews finished installing the displays Wednesday night.

The festival runs Friday through Jan. 7. It celebrates Chinese folk culture, entertainment and art.

More than 30 sets of lanterns will be on display throughout the fairgrounds. People can also see nightly performances and taste traditional Chinese foods.

The festival will run nightly from 5:30 to 10 p.m. in Celebration Park on the northwest side of the fairgrounds, just off East Fall Creek Parkway North Drive at 1202 E. 38th St.
