3 vacant structure fires on Thanksgiving add to growing list

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Fire Department responded to three vacant structure fires on Thursday.

According to firefighters, no one injured in any of the fires. IFD sent photos from one of them on Dearborn Street.

IFD reports crews have responded to 22 vacant structure fires this month.

Firefighters said it could be connected to colder weather because people will use the buildings for shelter.

IFD said if you think it’s happening in buildings near you, call 911. They can send an officer to check on the person and help direct them to other resources and shelters in the area. That helps protect them and firefighters, too, they said.
