Hit-and-run claims life of 69-year-old woman

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 69-year-old woman has died after being hit by a truck on the near north side.

Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to person struck at the intersection of 30th Street and Park Avenue — that’s near the Indianapolis Children’s Museum — Sunday around 8:45 p.m.

According to police, Mae Beasley was hit by a black 2001 to 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe. The car fled the scene before police arrived.  Beasley was taken to Methodist Hospital but later died.

The car was described in the police report as having tinted windows and damage to the front driver’s side of the car, including a broken light. Police say the vehicle will have front end damage, specially to the driver’s side.
