Police seek person who damaged historic Boone County bridge

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A $2,500 reward is being offered for any information that leads to solving a case in which a Boone County bridge was severely damaged.

Police say it happened on Nov. 10, 2016, at the iron bridge on Creek Road that crosses Sugar Creek in northwestern Boone County.

They believe that someone driving a CAT farm tractor towing a chisel plow struck the bridge and caused damage to the structure. The bridge had to be closed due to the severity of the damage.

The bridge had recently been restored with help from community-donated funds and is listed as a historical bridge under the Indiana Historical Bridge Inventory.

Police say that the closing of the bridge has caused a considerable inconvenience to those travelling in the area.

To help in locating the person or persons responsible for the damage, two local residents have come together to offer a $2,500 reward for any information leading to the resolution of this case.
