2 men, ages 17 and 21, arrested in connection with separate homicides

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police on Friday announced the arrests of two suspects in connection with two separate homicides that occurred in October and November.

Nickolas Shannon, 21, faces a charge of murder in connection with the murder and robbery of 21-year-old Jared Dowell, found dead by police at the Marina Apartments in the 2100 block of Shoreland Drive on Nov. 21.

James Johnson III, 17, was arrested for what police call his involvement in the murder of 51-year-old James Echols, found dead in a driveway in the 5300 block of East 40th Street on Oct. 11.

Johnson III has been waived to adult court, according to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make final charging decisions in both cases.

Shannon and Johnson II remain in the Marion County Jail.
