Warm start to the week with snow possible by next weekend

We’ve seen a great second half of the weekend with plenty of sunshine and a light south wind. Temperatures have slowly been climbing as well the past few days and highs topped out in the upper 50s this afternoon.

Clouds will slowly build in through the overnight in addition to increasing wind speeds. Those two in combination will make for a mild Monday morning commute. Highs typically top out in the low 40s this time of year, so to see those sorts of temps as you head out the door is a real treat.

With a stiff south wind between 20-30 mph through the day and occasional higher gusts, highs will soar into the low 60s. Just a heads up, if you have any outdoor holiday décor… you might want to weigh or tie it down or Santa Claus might go flying early this year.

Late Monday evening, a broken line of showers will push into central Indiana, followed by a more potent line of storms along the cold front early Tuesday morning.

Behind the cold front, temperatures will quickly drop. Our official high temperature will go down in the mid to upper 50s, but actual highs through the afternoon will only reach the mid 40s. Keep the coats handy because we’ll only hit the upper 20s towards the tail end of the work week with overnight lows in the teens several mornings.

With cold, arctic air in place, our storm system by late week will have a good chance to produce our first accumulating snow of the season here in Indiana Friday night into Saturday. It’s still too far out to speculate on totals, though right now they do look to remain minimal in most areas. Stay warm!
